About Us

Owned and operated by Atlanta’s homegrown, home-town committed hospitality group, Fifth Group Restaurants, South City Kitchen Midtown is a nationally recognized restaurant that was a forerunner in the sophisticated Southern cuisine movement. In fact, The New York Times said of the menu, “If this is the direction Southern cooking is taking, it’s headed in the right direction.”

The restaurant serves weekday lunch, weekend brunch, and dinner nightly, as well as adventurous, award-winning wine and cocktail lists. It is ideal for corporate and social group dining. Conveniently located in the heart of midtown Atlanta’s entertainment and business districts, it’s the perfect spot for a quick bite before or after a show at High MuseumWoodruff Arts Center, Piedmont Park, or The Fox Theatre, or an important business lunch or after-work drinks.

Parking is available on the surrounding streets or in adjacent public lots. We have no onsite parking.

About Executive Chef John Spotkill

With more than a decade of experience in the restaurant industry, Executive Chef John Spotkill brings his passion for Southern cuisine to his role at South City Kitchen Midtown.

Spotkill has been a part of the Fifth Group Restaurants family since 2013, showcasing his culinary expertise as sous chef at South City Kitchen’s debut location in Midtown Atlanta. Prior to joining Fifth Group Restaurants, Spotkill served as sous chef and executive chef at JCT. Kitchen & Bar from 2010 until 2012. While he grew up learning the tricks of the culinary trade from his grandmother and mother, Spotkill’s interest in cooking professionally was not sparked until much later when he had the opportunity to stage with his friend who was also a chef. Experiencing the energy of a restaurant kitchen allowed him to re-discover his childhood passion for cooking. Spotkill went on to earn his associate’s degree in culinary arts from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 2006.

Originally from Boston, Spotkill moved to Atlanta in 1996. He now resides in Fayetteville, Ga. with his wife, Ashley, and two children, Nathan and Elise. During his free time, Spotkill enjoys cheering on his beloved Boston sports teams and spending time with his family.

Please note: Our restaurant is not handicap accessible.
